Yet again, Goldust is part of a historic event. This is the first of only two Friday Night Main Events, as it was not a regular show, but a substitute. As the US Open was considered more important than Raw, the USA Network decided to broadcast that instead of WWF Raw on two straight Mondays: 25 August 1997 and 1 September 1997. Thus, the WWF was given the Friday nights of 29 August 1997 and 5 September 1997 to run a substitute show, and FNME was born!

On that special night, Goldust (w/ Marlena) was focused on his "Italian" opponent, when his arch nemesis Brian Pillman decided to provoke him again...
