Ashok Leyland Limited is a Flagship company that is a part of global business conglomerate, the Hinduja Group. It is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturer with its headquarters in Chennai, India. It was founded by Raghunandan Saran in 1948 and was named Ashok Motors initially. The name of the company was made Ashok Leyland in 1955, after its partnership with British Leyland.

Later in 1987 the Hinduja Group acquired majority stakes in Ashok Leyland through a joint venture Iveco and eventually became the sole owner in 2007. The Hinduja brothers have played an instrumental role in transforming it into the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India with a market share of around 31% in the M&HCV bus and truck segment and 20% in LCV segment as of FY24.
