The 'Aha' Moment: Choosing an Unconventional Path
When I decided to be a Spanish major in college and not fall under the sort of pretense or pressures that other people followed, I have a lot of friends that studied a thousand things. Now they're selling real estate. So, um, Thankfully, when I was in my teens, I knew it wasn't a career, but it was definitely going to be a nice large size pistol that I can bring along with me for the rest of my life and definitely opened a thousand doors. So I'm a kid from northeast Philly that can speak Spanish. A lot of people give me a second glance and ask me follow up questions. And it's a very nice thing. Well, listen, I'm Puerto Rican. I'm from New York and you probably know more Spanish than me. So I've seen it all. It's fine. If I'm around my family, there's certain things I could pick up. But as far as like dropping me in the country and being fluent, I'm not your guy.
