The Shining is an Anglo-American film of 1980 of the subgenus of terror, produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick and whose main actors are Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, Danny Lloyd and Scatman Crothers. It is based on Stephen King's novel. The film tells the story of Jack Torrance, a writer who accepts a position as a winter watchman in a lonely high mountain hotel to take care of maintenance, and gradually suffers disorders in his personality.
